Der Healy Med ist ein zugelassenes Medizinprodukt der Klasse 2A. Die Zulassung im Wortlaut lautet wie folgt:
Healy ist ein Medizinprodukt zur Schmerzbehandlung bei chronischen Schmerzen, Fibromyalgie, Skelettschmerzen und Migräne, sowie zur unterstützenden Behandlung bei psychischen Erkrankungen wie Depressionen, Angstzuständen und damit verbundenen Schlafstörungen.
Damit befindet er sich in der gleichen Medizinprodukte Klasse wie zum Beispiel Trachealtuben, EKG´s, diagnostische Ultraschall-Geräte oder vergleichbare Produkte mit ähnlicher Risiko Klassifizierung.
Was sind Medizinprodukte und was hat der Healy Med damit zu tun?
Medizinprodukte sind Geräte oder Verfahren zur Prävention, Diagnose oder Therapie von Krankheiten und als solche dazu konzipiert, Gesundheitsberufe zu unterstützen, Behandlungen zu ermöglichen oder die Lebensqualität der Menschen zu verbessern. Allein in Deutschland gibt es über 12.000 Medizintechnikunternehmen und die Branche gilt, nicht nur wegen der häufig sehr engen Zusammenarbeit mit Forschungseinrichtungen und Forschungsprojekten, als Topbranche für Patentanmeldungen.
Dabei machen innovative, genauer gesagt neue Medizinprodukte über die Hälfte des Umsatzes aus und die Frage nach technischen Hilfsmitteln und Lösungen im Gesundheitsbereich steigt kontinuierlich an.
Um trotz des großen Angebots Qualität und Sicherheit für Anwender und Patienten gewährleisten zu können, ist die gesetzliche Grundlage für das Inverkehrbringen eines neuen Medizinproduktes in Deutschland das sogenannte Medizinproduktegesetz (MPG).
Dieses wird auf europäischer Ebene seit 2020 außerdem durch die EU Medizinprodukteverordnung (MDR= Medical Device Regulation) ergänzt.
Auch der Healy Med unterliegt diesen Regularien und musste bestimmte Prozesse, wie unter anderem ein Risikomanagementverfahren, eine klinische Bewertung sowie eine Risiko-Nutzen-Analyse bestehen, um eine Zulassung zu erhalten.
